WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A man died on U.S. Highway 36 on Tuesday after rear-ending a striping truck being used by crews to stripe the HOV lane, said Westminster police.
Police were called to a crash with injuries in the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 36 between Sheridan Boulevard and Church Ranch Boulevard at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday.
Initial police reports said the driver of the van was traveling westbound when it went around a blocking truck the striping crew was using for safety while striping the HOV lane.
None of the employees from the striping company were injured.
Police said the driver of the van, who has not yet been identified, died of his injuries from the accident. Officers are investigating the accident.
Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes. All lanes of westbound U.S. Highway 36 between Sheridan and Church Ranch boulevards, will remain closed for several hours while officers investigate.
