Nearly 200 people in Castle Rock celebrated officers at a Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

The event was put on by "Pro Police Rally Colorado" and held at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

Supporters listened to music, speakers and got to chat with men and women in law enforcement. Members of the American Legion presented American flags.

Sgt. John Rose with the Douglas County Sheriff's Department said the past week has been tough for cops around the country and he's thankful for the show of support.

"This is why you do it. You're out here for the people, you're out here for the community. This is why we got into it as a public servant, to serve the people,” Rose said. “And when they, for a lack of a better term, show the love back to you, it makes you feel good.”

Ron MacLachlan, the event organizer, said he started the group to show support and appreciation to those who serve and protect our communities.
