They had everything planned to honor grandpa the way he would have wanted, but a last-minute mix-up has a family scrambling to figure out the funeral service for a WWII veteran.
A funeral home double-booked a service which meant there was no one available to provide military honors for Charles Grando.
"And we just found out last minute," Grando's granddaughter Heather Storer said. "We still just want our grandfather to be honored."
The family is searching for volunteers to provide a rifle salute for his service on Saturday, July 13.
"There's so many people who are volunteering to help that never even knew my grandfather," Storer said.
The family said they found a bagpiper to pipe taps and service members have volunteered to fold the American flag. The salute is the one thing left.
If you're able to help, reach out to Heather Storer: email@example.com.
