It's a Sign: No dumping in this Colorado park... or else

It's a Sign... that the Crown Mountain Parks and Rec. really, really wants you to clean up after your dog.

It's a Sign... that the Crown Mountain Parks and Recreation District really wants you to clean up after your dog.

Steve Kibler tipped us off to a sign that reads "DANGER. Electrified Grass Activated by Dog Poop." He says he saw it while at Crown Mountain Park in El Jebel.

We, of course, are super mature here at Next, so after we stopped laughing, we set out to learn the story behind it. The people over at Crown Mountain Parks and Recreation, Nate and Rebecca, said they decided to put up the signs a few years ago as a way to remind dog owners to clean up after their pets.

People have asked them before if their dogs really will get electrocuted. They assure us it's all in good fun and the grass will not electrocute anyone, or any dog.

They sent us a few more of their clever signs, including this one of a dog having to clean up after itself.

They say the park gets between 60,000 and 80,000 dog visits a year. Last year they went through 97,000 dog poop bags. This year, they've gone through 144,000, so the signs must be working. And let's keep it that way. Pick up after your dog -- for Nate and Rebecca's sake.
