Oskar Blues Brewery sending canned water to the Carolinas

Nearly 60,000 cans of fresh water are on the way to the Carolinas from Colorado to help provide relief following Hurricane Florence.

LONGMONT — Thousands of cans of water are on their way to hurricane relief centers thanks in part to Can'd Aid, Oskar Blues Brewery and the Ball Corporation.

In response to Hurricane Florence, which made landfall along the Carolina coast Friday morning, the Can’d Aid Foundation worked with Oskar Blues Brewery and Ball Corporation to send 22 pallets of water to support relief efforts. During a natural disaster, clean drinking water isn't always accessible. An initial 52,800 cans of fresh drinking water will arrive in the area this week.

Next week, Oskar Blues will shut down brewing operations at their Longmont facility to can additional water to support ongoing relief efforts.

Can’d Aid was formed as an immediate response to the massive flooding that devastated Lyons and Longmont in September 2013. To date, Can’d Aid has raised more than $3.4 million to support its “do-goodery” efforts including donating over one million cans of water to communities post-disaster, building 1,164 bicycles, donating 346 instruments and recycling the equivalent of 17.6 million cans.
