Police find missing Commerce City toddler

The 2-year old is in good health, his mother faces criminal charges.

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Commerce City Police Department (CCPD) has safely located a toddler who was taken by his mother who does not have parental custody of the child. 

Police said the child's mother, Valerie Watson, 29, turned herself in to the Denver Police Department on Thursday and now faces criminal charges. Watson had taken her child after having her parental rights removed and is legally restrained from having contact with the boy.

The child has been reunited with his father and is in good health. Police asked for the public's help locating Watson who is known to frequent hotels along the East Colfax corridor. 

Police thanked the public and the media for their help in locating the boy.
