Pre-evacuation notices lifted near Keene Ranch in Douglas County

A Red Flag warning is in effect until 8 p.m. due to strong winds and low humidity.

DOUGLAS COUNTY — A brush fire that broke out in the Keene Ranch area in Douglas County Tuesday morning has been contained.

The Douglas County Sheriff's office says the fire was burning near Dawson Butte. Pre-evacuation notices were sent out to residents, but have since been lifted. The Larkspur Fire Department says it burned about 3/4 of an acre.

State Troopers have shut down Tomah Road west of the fire at Bear Dance for mop-up efforts.

Pre-evacuations orders remain in place for a separate fire near Sedalia at Highway 67 at Rampart Range. Hwy 67 is closed, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

In yet another fire, multiple fire agencies responded to a fire on North Foxtail Drive in Castle Rock where two homes were destroyed and multiple homes were damaged.

A Red Flag warning is in effect until 8 p.m. due to strong winds and low humidity. Winds are between 30 and 40 miles per hour with gusts of up to 60 miles an hour according to the National Weather Service.
