A gas leak north of the Murphy Creek neighborhood forced a shelter-in-place order for some nearby residents Tuesday afternoon, according to a tweet from Aurora Fire Rescue.

The gas line was shut down, but firefighters said it continued to bleed off gas and they remained in the area to monitor air quality.

It’s unclear where the gas leak originated from. The neighborhood is near E-470 and South Gun Club Road.

Sky9 video showed numerous first responders and repair crews in the area. The Aurora Police Department said East Mississippi Avenue was shut down at South Coolidge Street and East Louisiana Parkway was closed at Harvest Road. The roads have since re-opened

A shelter-in-place order means people should stay or go indoors if they’ve received an emergency notification.

Aurora Fire issued an all-clear at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
