Some West Fork containment thanks to clouds

DEL NORTE, Colo. (AP) - Firefighters have been able to build some containment lines around the huge wildfire burning in southwestern Colorado.

DEL NORTE, Colo. (AP) - Firefighters have been able to build some containment lines around the huge wildfire burning in southwestern Colorado.

The fire complex is 4 percent contained thanks to cloud cover for much of the day Sunday over the West Fork Fire.

The fire forced the evacuation of hundreds of visitors and residents from the town of South Fork but they were allowed to return Friday.

U.S. Highway 160 is back open but drivers traveling between South Fork and another summer retreat, Creede, must be escorted by pilot cars.

The fire complex is made up of three fires burning on 151 square miles. Some homes directly north of the West Fork Fire remain under evacuation.
