A woman was able to escape from house fire that broke out early Friday morning near South Kipling Street and Morrison Road.

West Metro Fire says a call first came in about the blaze at around 5:20 a.m. It started in the garage at the home in the 9800 block of West Vassar Way and burned a car.

Firefighters say the fire later extended around the outside of the home and into an upstairs bedroom and through the window.

The woman inside the house wasn’t hurt.

About 30 firefighters went to the scene to fight the fire. It took six minutes to get it under control.

West Metro Fire says investigators believe the blaze was caused by oily rags in the trash can. They say the fire caused $100,000 in damage to the home.
