The Douglas County District Attorney has charged a 26-year-old man in relation to a fatal crash that killed two people along Highway 83 near Jones Road on May 20.
Skylar Pagano is accused of being under the influence while driving a 2016 Ford F-150 southbound on the highway and then passing in a no-passing zone on a curve, according to Colorado State Patrol (CSP).
Police said Pagano's vehicle then collided head-on with a 2003 Toyota SUV, killing its two front passengers, 32-year-old Festus Poyner and 32-year-old Julee Davis, both of Green Mountain Falls. Green Mountain Falls is a small town about 82 miles south of Denver.
Pagano and two other people were also injured in the crash: a 2-year-old child in the backseat of the Toyota, as well as a female passenger in the vehicle Pagano was driving, police said.
The child, female passenger and Pagano were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Pagano's charges include two counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular assault, first degree aggravated motor vehicle theft and several other misdemeanor and traffic charges.
Westminster police arrested Pagano June 16 on charges unrelated to the crash. He is currently being held at Adams County Jail and will eventually be transferred to Douglas County to stand trial for the May 20 crash.
