Man confesses to murder, gets one year in jail

FORT COLLINS - Thirty years after shooting his wife in the head, Charles Anderson admitted his guilt in court Friday.

Under a plea agreement he was sentenced to one year in jail. Nina Anderson was shot to death in February of 1973, just nine days after she married Charles Anderson. At the time, the coroner ruled it was an "accidental" death.

Lisa Cappeli, the victim's daughter, campaigned for the past eight years to have the case reopened. Cappeli said she has mixed feelings about Anderson's plea.

There's a little bit of satisfaction that he's been arrested, said Cappeli. But one year for a human life is a real cheap price tag."

Charles Anderson will get credit for the time he's already served in jail, so he will be released on parole next March.
