KUSA — If you’re looking for an easy way to give back this holiday season, you can donate to your favorite Colorado nonprofit on Colorado Gives Day.
The annual day of giving lands on Tuesday, Dec. 4 this year.
Here’s how it works: the day is powered by coloradogives.org – a year-round website featuring more than 2,300 nonprofits. The program encourages people to ‘give where you live’ and allows people to choose nonprofits that appeal to their passions.
Marla Williams, the president and CEO of the Community First Foundation, said there are several reasons why you should give on Dec. 4.
“The excitement about Colorado Gives day is that it really is a statewide celebration of nonprofits and to support them in their work and by giving on Colorado Gives Day, you become part of a larger movement," Williams said. "It is also an opportunity where your gift gets a boost from the incentive fund.”
Williams said the incentive fund is a million dollar fund provided by the Community First Foundation and FirstBank.
It's proportionally allocated to each non-profit that receives donations. So, if the one non-profit receives one-tenth the total giving on Colorado Gives Day, it would get one-tenth of the incentive fund, meaning every nonprofit that receives a gift on Colorado Gives Day gets an added boost.
