First responders from across Colorado were honored on Friday at the State Capitol.
Senators passed a resolution to to declare September 27 First Responders Appreciation Day.
Before passing the it, lawmakers took turns expressing gratitude for the sacrifices first responders make. Many of them spoke about the dangers emergency responders encounter on each and every day.
Denver Police officer Tony Lopez Junior, who was shot several times while on duty, was among the 150 people honored.
