Suspect killed following hours-long standoff in Colorado Springs

Officers said the suspect fired at them, prompting them to shoot back.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man has died after at least one Colorado Springs police officer shot him Saturday night.

The incident began as a standoff following a domestic dispute inside a home on Forrest Hill Road in northwest Colorado Springs, according to our partners at KRDO.

A woman and child left the home safely, KRDO reported, while the suspect barricaded himself inside.

After about four hours, officers said the man fired at them, prompting at least one officer to return fire.

The suspect was killed. No officers were hurt.

At least one officer has been placed on paid administrative leave, according to KRDO.
