CAÑON CITY, Colo. — A mountain lion who climbed up a tree didn't wake up in a good mood.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) was called to a mountain lion in a tree in a neighborhood in Canon City on Wednesday.
Officers tranquilized the adult male cat and began bringing him down from the tree using a bucket truck owned by a power company.
And that's when he woke up, according to CPW.
The cat was understandably agitated and began fighting off the officers.
During the struggle, two officers were scratched and bitten, according to CPW. They were eventually able to get him under control by putting him into a bear trap.
"That mountain lion seemed to come to life if you will," Zach Holder, one of the CPW officers said. "It started hissing at the wildlife officers on the ground. It pinned its ears back. When they grabbed it and put it on the ground to put it in the bear trap, it tried to get away from them."
CPW relocated the mountain lion Thursday morning in the mountains southwest of Canon City.
Both officers are doing OK, Holder said.
