KUSA – Boulder’s a great place to visit during virtually any season, but it’s particularly special during the fall.

That’s why you should make a trip to Downtown Boulder and the Pearl Street Mall from Sept. 14 to Sept. 16 for the 31st annual Fall Fest presented by Premier Members Credit Union.

The festival kicks off on Friday with the Pearl Street Stampede, where members of the CU Football team and Golden Buffalos marching band will host a “pep rally” starting in front of the courthouse at the Pearl Street Mall starting at 7 p.m.

Throughout the festival, multiple local bands will perform in the same area. While you’re listening to music, you can enjoy craft beer from Avery Brewing, the legendary margaritas from the Rio, as well as wine and food from multiple local vendors.

On Saturday and Sunday, Fall Fest will host the Firefly Handmade Market – the premier, handmade-only indie artisan market on the Front Range. More than 100 artists will be on Pearl Street from 10th to 16th streets selling home goods, arts, crafts, ceramics, skincare, clothes, jewelry, artisanal food and beverages and more.

Here's a tour of the 2017 Firefly Handmade Market.

Nearby, 14th Street will play host to children’s activities including a climbing wall, toddler playland and giant slide.

While attending Fall Fest and seeing the concert performances is free, tickets for children’s activities aren’t. Admission to the children’s area is $15 for unlimited activities on Friday night, and then $1 per ticket on Saturday and Sunday.

And no, drinks and food are also not free. Beer and wine are $5 a glass, margaritas are $8, and food prices vary.

City of Boulder parking garages are free on Saturday and Sunday.
