ENGLEWOOD – In Bradley Chubb, the Broncos hope they have the next DeMarcus Ware.

In DeMarcus Ware, Chubb has himself a new pass-rush counselor.

It only makes sense.

The Broncos have brought in Ware to help instruct the team’s pass rushers, player sources told 9NEWS. It’s a part-time gig as its only for the final two weeks of the offseason. Ware was at team headquarters Wednesday.

Ware will join longtime NFL guard and offensive line coach Howard Mudd as part-time instructors the Broncos have brought in for the summer.

Mudd had three Pro Bowl berths as an NFL guard and 39 years as an NFL offensive line coach. He retired following the 2012 season, but was brought in last week by Broncos head coach Vance Joseph to offer his blockers a fresh perspective.

Ware had 9 Pro Bowl berths and is getting first, part-time taste at coaching.

Three of the Broncos’ top four pass rushers -- Von Miller, Shane Ray and Shaq Barrett – were Ware’s teammates who frequently took pass-rush tips from him.

Where Ware can spend a fair percentage of his time is helping Chubb, the rookie who was the Broncos’ No. 5 overall pick in last month’s NFL Draft.

The similarities between Ware and Chubb are striking. Both are taller edge rushers at 6-foot-4. Both have power-forward frames. Chubb may be a tad stronger at 269 pounds where Ware came out of Troy University at 251 and finished his career at 258.

The biggest difference between the two is Ware finished his career with 138.5 sacks to rank No.8 on the NFL’s all-time list – 21.5 of which came in his three seasons from 2014-16 with the Broncos – and Chubb is just getting started.
