KUSA — After forty years in Colorado Springs, the Sky Sox are moving to San Antonio in 2019.

However, there will still be minor league baseball in Olympic City, USA.

The Elmore Sports Group, owners of the Sky Sox, will move their rookie-level Helena Brewers from Montana to the Springs in 2019.

The Brewers name won't survive though and fans will have the opportunity to name the new Colorado Springs team.

The team began accepting fan nominations for the new name on Wednesday and will continue to accept names through Wednesday, June 27.

The top five to seven options will be announced and fans will then be able to vote on their favorite team name.

The fan whose name is selected as the winner will win four field-level season tickets for the 2019 season, an authentic, personalized team jersey and an on-field introduction on Opening Night 2019 with the opportunity to throw out a ceremonial first pitch.

You can submit your idea for a team name, along with an explanation of why that name is significant to Colorado Springs, at MiLB.com.com.

The new Colorado Springs rookie-level team will play in the Pioneer League with the Grand Junction Rockies, Great Falls Voyagers, Billings Mustangs, Missoula Osprey, Idaho Falls Chukars, Ogden Raptors and Orem Owlz.
