9NEWS has confirmed that the University of Denver will name Rodney Billups as the new head coach of its basketball program.
Billups is currently an assistant coach with the University of Colorado but played his college basketball at DU. He is the brother of former NBA star Chauncey Billups.
The coaching position at DU is open after the Pioneers announced on Friday they would not retain head coach Joe Scott who was at the University for nine seasons.
