GREENWOOD VILLAGE — The Cherry Creek Bruins are heading back to the 5A state semifinals, after handing Ralston Valley a 24-16 loss Friday night at Stutler Bowl.

The Bruins took a commanding 17-0 lead heading into halftime, capped off by an impressive 50-yard field goal from kicker Mac Willis.

Creek continued to ride that momentum into the second half. On the first drive of the third quarter, Seamus Henderson rushed 69-yards to the end zone to give the Bruins a 24-0 lead. Ralston Valley would not be shut out, however. The Mustangs put together two drives, scoring 14 points, but Creek's Myles Purchase would make sure they wouldn't get any closer. He had three interceptions this game, as Creek went on to win, 24-16.

Cherry Creek will play Columbine in the 5A semifinals, while Ralston Valley finishes its season 9-3.
