Down in the football trenches with the Aurora 'hogs'

Hogs get down and dirty -- they don't mind a little mud. And no, we're not talking about on the farm.

AURORA — Hogs get down and dirty -- they don't mind a little mud. And no, we're not talking about on the farm.

On Wednesday, Rangeview High School hosted the annual Aurora Hog Wars, a competition between the offensive linemen, linebackers and fullbacks from area high schools.

This year's teams included Rangeview, Eaglecrest, Cherokee Trail, Aurora Central, Gateway, Vista Peak and Hinkley. The teams competed in a series of challenges including the log press, tire flip, farmers walk, sled relay, fire truck push and the tug-o-war.

In the end, the host school Raiders finished first, edging Eaglecrest in a tight battle at the end.

Watch the video above to see the sights and sounds from the 2018 Aurora Hog Wars, and tune in to the Saturday morning Prep Rally (July 13) to catch an encore presentation.
