The 5-2 Standley Lake Gators faced a 6-1 Vista PEAK Prep Bison team at home on Friday night in a league match-up.
Gators struck early and struck often. Capitalizing on a couple big pass plays and recovering a high snap in the endzone, Standley Lake took an early 21-0 lead in the first quarter that would give them huge momentum heading into the quarters to follow.
The two teams exchanged numerous fumbles and the Bison had no shortage of time on offense; however, a lack of production lead to their downfall.
Running back Gene Sledge Jr. punched in a couple rushing touchdowns for the Bison; however, the high-scoring first quarter for the Gators proved to be enough for the win.
Standley Lake advances to 6-2 on the season with a 35-18 victory at home. They only have two games remaining before playoffs.
