Denver Jewish Day captures first-ever boys basketball state title

The Tigers defeated the Belleview Christian Bruins 55-42 in the Class 1A championship game.

LOVELAND, Colo. — Denver Jewish Day is bringing home its first boys basketball state championship.

The Tigers, who ere the No. 2 seed in the Class 1A playoff bracket, knocked off No. 1 Belleview Christian 55-42 in the title game Saturday at the Budweiser Events Center.

Senior guard Ilan Schinagel led the Tigers by scoring a game-high 25 points. The Bruins were led by a team-high 15 points from Nathaniel Owen.

Denver Jewish Day went 22-3 overall in route to the championship. Belleview Christian finished 24-2 overall as runner-up.
