DENVER — Two top-5 boys basketball teams met for a cross-classification battle Tuesday night, with Grandview pulling away late for a 56-43 victory over Lincoln.
The Wolves are ranked No. 4 in Class 5A, while the Lancers sit No. 5 in 4A.
The win was a bounce-back for Grandview, which was coming off a nailbiting 1-point loss to No. 1 and defending 5A champion Rangeview on Friday night.
"We fell short against Rangeview but we're just looking to move on," senior center Lian Ramiro said. "Keep playing Grandview basketball and keep moving on with the W's."
Lincoln kept it a close game until late in the second half, trailing just 28-26 at halftime.
Ramiro continued to knock down his shots to help Grandview eventually pull away.
"I felt myself clicking," he said. "Every shot I take I feel like I'm going to make it. Even if I miss I still feel like I'm going to make the next one. That's my mentality."
Grandview improves to 2-1 on the season, while Lincoln falls to 2-2.
