Mead moves past Silver Creek in 4A boys Sweet 16

The Mavericks defeated the Raptors 75-63 on Wednesday night to advance to the Class 4A Great Eight.

MEAD, Colorado — It's on to the Great Eight for top-ranked Mead.

The Mavericks, who entered the Class 4A boys basketball state tournament as the No. 1 seed, defeated 16-seed Silver Creek 75-63 at home in the Sweet 16 round on Wednesday night to advance.

Mead outscored Silver Creek 23-15 in the final quarter to pull away for the win. The Mavericks have now rattled off 24 straight victories since their season opener in December.

The Mavericks are now one win away from punching their ticket to the Final Four at the Denver Coliseum. Mead will play 25-seed Lincoln at home on Saturday after the Lancers advanced past 9-seed Montrose, 43-32.

Silver Creek's season ends with a 17-8 overall record.
