ARVADA, Colo. — Both Denver South and Standley Lake entered Friday evening's game at the North Area Athletic Complex riding three-game losing streaks.
It was the Rebels who got back on track, beating the Gators 21-6.
After a scoreless opening quarter, Denver South (2-3) quarterback Julian Buerk scored the first of his two rushing touchdowns on a 6-yard keeper with just 18 seconds before halftime.
Both teams scored in the third quarter, first Denver South's 1-yard rush by Buerk before Standley Lake (1-4) finally made it on to the scoreboard on a 3-yard running touchdown by Ethan DePlonty.
The Rebels extended their lead once again in the final quarter with the biggest play of the game -- a 43-yard touchdown pass from Buerk to Dante Johnson to secure the victory.
