Lewis-Palmer three-peats as 4A volleyball state champion

The Rangers have now won five state titles over the past six years.

DENVER — Winning has become thrice as nice for Lewis-Palmer.

The road to the Class 4A state volleyball championship typically involves the Rangers, who have dominated their field in recent history. Saturday night at the Denver Coliseum was no different.

No. 1 Lewis-Palmer swept No. 3 Niwot in the state championship match (25-11, 25-15, 25-10) to win their third straight title, and fifth in the past six years.

"It feels like you're on top of the world, really," senior middle blocker Kess Krutsinger said. "It never gets old. Every time it's really a special experience."

The Rangers had an impressive 2018 season, going 26-1 overall and losing only to Class 5A runner-up Chaparral in the second match of the regular season, rattling off 25 consecutive victories to the championship.

Overall, Lewis-Palmer dropped just nine sets all year, and only one throughout the state playoff bracket.

"It never gets old, it just gets more exciting as the years go on," senior setter McKenna Sciacca said. "This is truly an honor and the best feeling ever."

Niwot finishes as the 4A runner-up with a 22-4 overall record.
