Highlands Ranch — Luke McCaffrey will be a Cornhusker.

The youngest son of former Denver Bronco Ed McCaffrey announced his decision to further his education and football playing career at the University of Nebraska via Twitter Monday afternoon.

McCaffrey, a dual-threat quarterback at Valor Christian High School, threw for more than 875 yards and rushed for nearly 550 yards as a junior last season. He was the backup to University of Colorado commit Blake Stenstrom, but also spent time as a wide receiver, running back and punt/kickoff returner.

Luke chose Nebraska over other offers from Colorado, Colorado State, Michigan, Ohio State, UCLA and Mississippi, among others.

The now-senior is the youngest of Ed and Lisa McCaffrey's boys, all of whom attended Valor for high school. Today, eldest son Max is with the San Francisco 49ers organization, while Christian -- a standout during his time at Stanford -- was drafted eighth overall in the 2017 NFL draft, and now plays running back for the Carolina Panthers. Dylan McCaffrey is currently playing football at the University of Michigan.

Luke McCaffrey is expected to be the starting quarterback for Valor Christian this fall. Father Ed McCaffrey will be in his first year as head coach of the Eagles.
