MEAD — Mead is back on track. The Mavericks defeated cross-town rival Roosevelt 41-0 Friday night, gaining some much needed momentum as they prepare to face No. 1 Erie next week.

The Mavs won with a well rounded game, with points coming from the offense, defense and special teams. Nathan Bailey helped his team take an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter. The sophomore finished the night with three touchdowns.

In the 3rd quarter, Mead continued the momentum. Junior Trey Ward scored a touchdown off a pick-six, extending the Mavs lead to 21-0. Nick Jacobs also made an interception that would eventually convert to seven more points for his team.

The special teams would not be left out. Easton Willyard blocked a Raiders punt, and senior Jay Olson found the ball and returned it to the end zone for another Mead touchdown. Ryan Bullock would put the nail in the coffin late in the fourth quarter, as the Mavericks went on to shut out Roosevelt 41-0.

Prior to the game itself, students from both Mead and Roosevelt competed in the 9Preps Game Before the Game. Watch the video posted below to see who won.
