They knew it was coming. So, they had to do the work early to withstand it.

"We knew they'd go on a run," Strasburg senior Jake Miller said. "They're a great team. But, we found a way."

'The way' was the barrage of 3-pointers Miller and company knocked down in the first half, as Strasburg held on to beat Denver School of Science & Technology, 62-53, and advance to the Great 8 in Class 3A boys basketball.

In a Sweet 16 matchup at Bruce Randolph High School, the Indians built a 16-point cushion at the half, capped off a by a buzzer-beating 3 by Miller to send his team into the locker room with some momentum.

But, the Knights came roaring back in the second half. After trailing by as many as 20 points in the third quarter, Vince Jones and DSST Stapleton trimmed the deficit all the way to 2 at one point.

It took some late free throws and a couple of huge late buckets from Brock Lane for Strasburg to stop the storm, as the Indians held on for a thrilling victory to survive and advance.

Strasburg will take on top seed Sterling Thursday in the Great 8.
