They have the longest season out of anyone, and arguably the most games, too. This weekend, Colorado celebrated its spirit squads, with the state competition taking place at the Denver Coliseum.
The night brought many first-time winners, as well as repeat champions.
Vail Christian's poms team continues to build its resume as being one of the best the 2A classification has ever seen. On Saturday, the Saints took home their sixth straight state championship. Castle View won its third consecutive 4A/5A co-ed cheer title, and Cherry Creek poms (5A), St. Mary's cheer (2A/3A co-ed) and Monarch dance (hip-hop) all repeated in their respective categories. In addition, Ponderosa won the jazz dance title, after taking home the 4A poms championship in 2015.
Rock Canyon is back on top in the 5A cheer category, after winning its third title in four years.
