The Thomas Jefferson High School boys lacrosse team defeated Jefferson Academy 8-7 on Tuesday afternoon.

Both teams entered the early-season matchup unranked with 2-1 records.

The Jaguars looked strong early and took a 5-3 lead into halftime. The Spartans then held their visiting opponents scoreless in the third quarter and built an 8-5 lead in the final quarter to secure the win, fending off Jefferson Academy's comeback.

Thomas Jefferson improves to 3-1, while Jefferson Academy falls to 2-2.
