BLACK HAWK, Colo. — SuperBook, one of the most popular sports wager parlors in Las Vegas, is expanding to The Lodge Casino in Black Hawk.

Once sports returns, this promises to be a pretty big deal.

Currently, the SuperBook at the Las Vegas Westgate Hotel has the world’s largest Race and Sports book with 30,000 square feet. The venue includes the largest indoor video wall – 240 feet by 20 feet.

SuperBook is teaming with Jacobs Entertainment, which is headquartered in Golden, Co., in expanding to The Lodge in Black Hawk.

The new sports gaming operation at The Lodge will be led by Jay Kornegay, a diehard Broncos fan who grew up in Denver, Colorado Springs and Cheyenne, Wyo., and graduated from Colorado State in 1987.

“Having Jay Kornegay lead this exciting opportunity is an added benefit Colorado fans are sure to appreciate,’’ JJ Garcia, vice president of operations for The Lodge and Gilpin Casinos, said in a press release.

“We believe The Lodge is a perfect fit for our initial expansion opportunities outside Las Vegas,’’ Kornegay stated in the same press release.

SuperBook and The Lodge will offer both on-line and on-site wagering. The plan was for SuperBook to start up at The Lodge on May 1, but the operation will now wait until the sports world is deemed safe from the coronavirus pandemic before launching.
