CHICAGO — Add Kyle Freeland to the list of hometown heroes.
In the biggest game of his young career, the Denver native put on a show-stopping performance at Wrigley Field that punched the Colorado Rockies' ticket to the NLDS in an extra-innings, 2-1 win over the Cubs in the NL Wild Card game on Tuesday night.
Freeland, a Thomas Jefferson High School graduate, became the first Rockies pitcher with a scoreless postseason start. He stunned Chicago, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out six batters through 6 2/3 innings pitched.
