BOULDER, Colo. — The University of Colorado men's basketball team has accepted a bid to the 2023 National Invitation Tournament (NIT).
The Buffaloes (17-16) will host Seton Hall (17-15) in a first-round game on Tuesday, Mar. 14, at the CU Events Center at 9 p.m.
The Buffaloes are the No. 3 seed in one of four eight-team regions and will host the Pirates on ESPN2.
Tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. Monday at the CU Athletic Ticket Office or online at CUBuffs.com/tickets.
Second round games and the regional finals will be played on campus sites. The NIT semifinals and championship game will take place at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas for the first time. The tournament ended an 83-year run with Madison Square Garden in New York City last year.
Seton Hall finished the season sixth in the Big East Conference with a 10-10 record. The Buffaloes and Seton Hall have never met in men’s basketball.
Colorado makes its second-straight NIT appearance and 13th overall.
“I’m excited and I know our players are too, we live to see another day, which is all you can ask for,” said Colorado head coach Tad Boyle.
“We know from first hand experience how good of a tournament this is; good teams, players and coaches. St. Bonaventure came to our place last year and it was a great game and they made it to the final four. I know Seton Hall will come in with that same mindset and I’m sure we’ll be ready.”
