CU loses center Dallas Walton for 2018-19 season after third ACL injury

Walton is the Buffs only true center and will leave CU thin up front. Boyle said that the team will use smaller, quicker lineups to fill the void up top.

The Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball team will be without redshirt sophomore Dallas Walton for the entirety of the 2018-19 season, head coach Tad Boyle announced on Wednesday. The former Arvada West standout tore his right ACL during Tuesday’s practice. He had previously torn his left knee two times in high school.

“My heart goes out to him,” Boyle said. “He’s worked so hard to come back from two previous ACL’s in high school and had such a promising freshman year and we were expecting great things [for this year].”

Walton is the Buffs only true center and will leave CU thin up front. Boyle said that the team will use smaller, quicker lineups to fill the void up top.

“We’re not as deep as we once were and we certainly can’t afford another injury to our front line,” said Boyle.

Walton will be forced to burn a year of eligibility since he used his redshirt during the 2016-17 season.

“I just want people to know that this is not the end of the road for him by any means,” Boyle added. “He’s going to come back stronger than he was before.”
