Lil Wayne left speechless by CU's athletic facilities

Coach Deion Sanders has revamped the University of Colorado football roster and given a starved fan base a glimmer of hope.

BOULDER, Colo. — Grammy Award-winning musician Lil Wayne was given a late-night tour of the facilities of the University of Colorado football program this week.

New Colorado football head coach Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders led Lil Wayne on the tour, which was captured by CU's media department.

On the tour, Sanders showed Lil Wayne the spectacular facilities of the CU athletic department and football program, including training, weight and meeting rooms, indoor practice facility, entertainment area, and barbershop.

Sanders even took Lil Wayne through the player's tunnel and onto Folsom Field.

"This is the [expletive] locker room?" Lil Wayne said with a smile, impressed with the Buffaloes' football locker room.

It's taken Sanders less than two months in Boulder to revive a program that has been at the bottom of college football in recent years. Sanders held a news conference Wednesday to tout his first recruiting class at Colorado.

Sanders said the CU football program has gotten two five-star recruits and a No. 21 overall class ranking, which is the highest in 15 years. Colorado also has a top-five class from the transfer portal, according to 247 Sports.

"We're not recruiting just no ordinary Tom, Dick and Harry," Sanders said. "We recruited some guys that can light up the scoreboard and prevent touchdowns from occurring. We're coming. We're serious about that.

"Hope is in the house. Hope is in the air. Hope is in the city. Hope is in the community," Sanders said.

"We've got names on the back of their shirts right now," he said. "I'm not familiar with every kid. I'm not being disrespectful. I'm just being honest."

"This is just a comma, because there's a lot of people that's going to bungee jump into the portal after spring because they're going to be disappointed in playing time, commitment or the level of participation they're garnishing," Sanders said. "We're going to take full advantage of that. So we're not done. This is just the comma for the spring. But I love where we are and what we have."

"He's brought a lot of energy and passion to this program again," said CU athletic director Rick George. "It's what we desperately needed."

Sanders has gathered the family for a commercial set to air during the Super Bowl in February. Oikos unveiled the new spot that will star Sanders for the second year in a row.

The "Family Reunion" commercial features Sanders and his family enjoying yogurt at an epic picnic.

Joining Sanders in the ad are his son and CU quarterback Shedeur, daughter Shelomi, son Shilo, sister Tracie and mother Connie. Oikos said each family member shows off a different feat of strength at the family picnic.

The commercial will air on Sunday, Feb. 12, both pregame and in-game during the meeting between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. The ad is also available to watch on Oikos' YouTube channel.
