Colorado Buffaloes junior quarterback Steven Montez was named to the Maxwell Award watch list on Monday.

The Maxwell Award is given to America's best all-around player in college football, as judged by a panel of sportscasters, sportswriters, and National Collegiate Athletic Association head coaches and the membership of the Maxwell Football Club.

Montez is one of 12 Pac-12 players named to the list for the 2018 season.

Montez ranks ninth in Colorado history with 3,992 passing yards in just 22 career games (15 starts).

No Colorado Buffalo has ever won the Maxwell Award.

The finalists for the 82nd Annual Maxwell Award will be unveiled November 19 and the winner will be selected December 6 on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN.

The last five winners of Maxwell Award were Baker Mayfield, Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Marcus Mariota and AJ McCarron.
