It's a new season.

It's a new season for the Colorado Avalanche who finished dead last in the NHL last season and it's also a new season for the Colorado Eagles who won the Kelly Cup for the first time since joining the ECHL in 2011.

Currently both teams are riding hot streaks in their respective leagues. On the same night the two continued their streaks. The Avalanche extended theirs to six games after a healthy 4-1 against the Dallas Stars, and the Eagles now sit on an eight-game win streak after a massive 8-1 win over Rapid City.

The two capped off 2017 with wins and it's only continued in the new year.

The state's minor league team to the north is currently first in the ECHL with 60 points picking up where they left off last season.

Colorado's NHL club may still be last in the NL Central, but that's not because they haven't been playing well. The Avs have a winning record (23-16-3) in a tough division with the Winnipeg Jets, Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues sitting at the top of the division.

The Avs face the Anaheim Ducks on Monday at 1 p.m. MT and the Eagles next game is next Saturday, Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. MT.
