After years of construction and planning, the Metro State Roadrunners opened up their brand new baseball field at the Regency Athletic Complex on Friday morning.
"We've been working on this for about five years, to get this complex going," said athletic director Joan McDermott. "To have our first game here, it's a dream come true for everybody."
The field, which is completely made up of Field Turf grass, will allow Metro State to easily host more home games in the months of January and February. Since snow is easily cleared and melted when it comes into contact with Field Turf, the Roadrunners will have an easier time practicing and scheduling games in Denver throughout the typically colder months.
