KUSA - Corey Rose sat down with Scott Yates, 9NEWS Tech Expert, to talk about a radically new way of buying and selling cars and trucks, all from a smartphone.
The app is called "Blinker" and works just in Colorado now, but the company based in LoDo is hoping to expand to all 50 states soon.
While this is a brand new app and company, the management team has a rich history in buying and selling cars. Rod Buscher, the CEO, worked on the team that built the John Elway car dealerships.
The company says that anyone who can take a picture with a smartphone can use Blinker. The app makes it easy to take pictures of the car, and then pictures of the car title and registration. They claim that using the app a car seller can usually sell a vehicle for significantly more than they could on their own.
The app is completely free to use for the buyers and sellers. In addition to all the free tools for making the transaction, Blinker offers financing for the vehicles -- that's where the company makes money. If you don't use Blinker for financing, however, you can still use their tools for free.
Often people have an idea for a startup, but they don't have an "elevator pitch." That is, they can't talk clearly about their idea in the time that it takes to take an elevator ride. Several veterans of startups, including Yates, will be on hand to help people refine their idea into a pitch that connects with potential customers, partners and investors. The event, sponsored by the Founder Institute, will be next Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Thrive Workspace in Cherry Creek.
Each Tech Tuesday Scott Yates showcases new and emerging companies that are doing great things in Colorado, along with tech events. This post was written by one of the freelance writers working with the blog writing service BlogMutt. Do you want to see your business featured in a future #TechTuesday segment? Build an interesting business and then go to a startup event, and Scott will probably see you there.
