DENVER — Work to replace a large underground steam vault will impact traffic in downtown Denver for the next few weeks, according to a release from Xcel Energy.

Work began on Monday, May 13 and is expected to last through the first week of June.

The vault that needs to be replaced is damaged —  and 26 feet underground.

Given the depth of the vault, the size of the excavation of this project and other work needed to complete the project, construction is expected to last four weeks.
