Conditions clear in eastern Colorado, most road closures lifted

The Eastern Plains were hit with blizzard-like conditions, prompting a do-not-travel warning.

KUSA - Most of the road closures prompted by blizzard-like conditions in eastern Colorado Tuesday have been lifted.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said the only major closure remaining is southbound Interstate 25 between Pueblo and the New Mexico border.

CO 86 is also still closed between Kiowa and I-70.

Here are all the roads that are back open:

WB I-70 Kansas to Airpark Rd.

EB I-70 Airpark Road (Aurora) to Limon

US 287 Ted's Place to the Wyoming Border

US 85 Nunn to Wyoming

CO-83 Franktown to Northgate Blvd

CO-94 Colorado Springs to US 40

Hwy. 71 Ordway to Brush

US 287 Eads to Limon

US 40 Kit Carson to Cheyenne Wells

US-385 Burlington to Cheyenne Wells

US-24 Calhan to Limon

This is a major departure from the morning, when CDOT virtually told drivers to stay off the roads in the plains and on I-25 between Monument and Castle Rock.

It was so windy near Agate that Cory Reppenhagen had a hard time getting back into the car following his live shot during the 8 a.m. hour.  He had to struggle to open the door and then get it closed due to the intense winds.
