Denver street sweeping starts today

The city's street sweeping program runs from April until November between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

DENVER — We hope you enjoyed the break, but from Tuesday, April 2 onward, you'll once again need to pay attention to those street sweeping signs if you park your car on the streets of Denver.

Residential street sweeping season began Tuesday and runs through November. It runs from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Residents can sign up for street sweeping reminders through pocketgov online and get text or email notifications about street sweeping days.

Streets are swept once a month on the designated day, which is noted on red and white signs posted on the city block. Drivers who don't move their cars will receive a $50 parking citation.

People who park on the streets of the Molly Brown neighborhood, have more than just parking tickets to look out for this week. The city tows between 11th Avenue and Colfax Avenue and Logan Street to Clarkson Street on the first street sweeping days of the year. They've done this every year for two decades. Cars aren't getting taken away, but simply moved around in order to allow street sweepers to fully clean. It will only happen April 2 - 5.

In 2018, Denver street sweeping crews swept 175,161 lane miles of Denver streets and alleys and collected 77,678 cubic yards of dirt and debris, according to Denver Public Works.
