FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A pedestrian was killed in a crash Friday night in Fort Collins, according to Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS).

The crash happened about 7:40 p.m. near the intersection of East Prospect Road and South College Avenue, FCPS said in a press release.

The pedestrian ran across College Avenue in front of a 2013 Dodge pickup and was struck. The pedestrian, a man, was not in the crosswalk. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, FCPS said.

The pickup driver, a woman, had a green traffic light at the time of the crash. She stayed on the scene, police said.

The Larimer County Coroner's Office will release the name of the victim after his next of kin are notified.

South College Avenue was closed northbound between East Stuart Street and West Lake Street during the investigation Friday night. Westbound traffic on East Prospect Road was also closed at Remington Street.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about it can contact Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-416-2224.
