I-70 reopens in Aurora after trash truck rollover

I-70 was closed Thursday afternoon in Aurora for a rollover crash involving a trash truck.

AURORA, Colo. — Both directions of Interstate 70 have reopened after a trash truck rolled over Thursday afternoon near Tower Road. 

Hazmat teams responded to the scene on I-70 in Aurora. One person was treated on scene and taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to Aurora Fire Rescue.

I-70 westbound was closed at E-470, according to Aurora Police. It reopened around 5 p.m., CDOT said. 

Eastbound was also closed for a short time and reopened around 3:10 p.m.

Aurora Fire Rescue said the trash truck was leaking compressed natural gas after the crash.
