Man killed after SUV crashes into a tree in Aurora

The single-vehicle crash happened about 5:15 p.m. on South Peoria Street near East Alameda Avenue, Aurora Police said.

AURORA, Colo. — A man was killed Tuesday night after he lost control of his SUV and struck a tree, the Aurora Police Department (APD) said. 

The single-vehicle crash happened about 5:15 p.m. on South Peoria Street near East Alameda Avenue, APD said.

The man was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased, APD said. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.  

APD said investigators believe weather was a contributing factor in the crash – rain and snow were falling in the area at the time.

Traffic Unit Investigators are attempting to reconstruct the scene to determine speeds and other contributing factors, they do not believe alcohol was involved.

The identity of the deceased will be released by the Arapahoe County Coroner's Office after positive identification and next-of-kin notifications, APD said.
