Teen driver killed after crashing into traffic pole

The 18-year-old hit a traffic pole near South Kendall Boulevard and West Ken Caryl Avenue, Colorado State Patrol said.

LITTLETON, Colo. — An 18-year-old man died after his vehicle smashed into a traffic light pole, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. Monday near the intersection of South Kendall Boulevard and West Ken Caryl Avenue. The driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, CSP said.

No one else was hurt, but debris thrown from the vehicle when it crashed damaged six other vehicles.

It's unclear at this time exactly what led up to the crash, but CSP said they do not think alcohol was a factor.

The intersection is expected to be closed for an extended period of time because the traffic signal needs to be repaired. Drivers are urged to avoid the area.
