LAKEWOOD, Colo. — The teenage girl who was struck and killed by a car Sunday night in Lakewood was in a crosswalk but did not have the walk sign, according to a release from Lakewood police.

The victim, 13-year-old Angelina Thompson, was attempting to cross Wadsworth Boulevard at West Virginia Avenue around 6:20 p.m. Sunday when she was hit by a car headed south on Wadsworth Blvd, police said.

Multiple witnesses and bystanders stopped to render aid but Thompson died at the scene of the crash, according to police.

The driver stopped and remained on scene, police said. At this time there's no information to suggest that alcohol, drugs or speed were factors in the fatal crash, according to police. No charges have been filed.

The investigation is ongoing as police continue to interview witnesses and attempt to locate video from surrounding businesses.
